Will probably have to wait for Steve to come along and give his opinion on this one as he has used WordPress SEO and I have not. But - it does occur to me that if WordPress is performing a template redirect - which is what it looks like might be happening - then I  believe it will usually generate an error log entry accordingly so a good place to start might be the error log to see if anything gets reported.

can you take me through some of you yoast settings?  and what wp theme?

and of course, Andy's question...

Hi - first, where is the error log? Sorry I don't know, but I follow directions well :-)

I did d/l the update - same problem.

i'm using a Studiopress theme:  Magazine Pro

I haven't changed any settings in WP SEO - so they're all at the default settings. As soon as I saw the problem, I deactivated and didn't bother with anything else.

Thanks for the help!

You can usually find the error log via your hosting control panel (like cPanel) - or at least it will usually display the last X number of entries. It is best to activate the plugin - run a forum page to check the result and then immediately look at the error log to see if anything got reported.

I enabled Wordpress SEO Version 1.5.2.2, visited the forum, replied to a post.

The forum displayed first with the forum content above the theme, then below that was the forum IN the theme. Screenshots:

I got this in the error log from my IP:

[Sat Mar 15 13:14:26 2014] [error] [client MYIP] File does not exist: /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/lword/public_html/discussion/404.shtml

[Sat Mar 15 13:14:22 2014] [error] [client MYIP] script '/problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/lword/public_html/discussion/viewtopic.php' not found or unable to stat

The error log has a ton of entries all pertaining to the forum, such as:

My confusion and my lack of knowledge are painful here... I'll explain:

L-word.com is our old site

LesFan.com is the new site

L-word.com is forwarding to LesFan.com - it's no longer a hosted site.

I see the directory /lword/ all over the logs.  I don't know why it's not lesfan.com, but obviously, the forum is displaying properly other than when Wordpress SEO is activated.

I'm also seeing urls such as http://www.l-word.com/discussion/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=45464   but I guess those logs are just the 404 from the forward to lesfan.com

I'll wait to hear from you. I appreciate your patience and help.

so what is viewtopic and viewprofile???  they are not wordpress or simple press things...

it appears you may have a 3rd party forum app (such as vbulletin or smf) also active at same slug??

viewprofile is likely from our own plugin - likely viewtopic as well

many years ago we used vbulletin on an old version of this site. haven't used it in years.

no, I can assure you are url rewrite structure does not support a viewtopic url like that...  can you elaborate on what you meant by your own plugin?  the difficulties you are having are coming from that structure...

when you say havent used it in years, was it actually removed from the server?
