Is there a way to redirect guests who click on a forum that they cannot acces to the registration page? Currently, when a guests click on a forum that they may view, it opens the forum and it is empty.  Also, does the forum group have to show if I have two forums in a group?  Is there no way to hide the group so that guests/members only see the forums when they click on the forums on my website???

Can we take these points one at a time starting with the sentence 'guests who click on a forum that they cannot access'...?

How and where do they manage to click on a forum link if they can not access it? If the permissions for guests are set up correctly then if they can not view any components of a forum they should never see the forum link. Just like you can not see ir ever try and open our two internal developer forums on this site!

so - I am a little confused! How have you set up guest permissions for the forums they can not use?

Sorry, sometimes it makes sense in your mind when typing!  OK, so I have a group and in this group are two forums.  One called "Guests" and the other "Off Topic".  I want guests to be able to post in guests without having to login/register, though I want them to see that there is another forum "Off Topic", yet not view what the members are posting.  When they click on "Off Topic" I want them to be redirected to the registration page.  You may view what I mean: Forum.  I can't seem to get the permissions correct.  I have it that guests may view the guest's forum, though they can't read what anyone posts there.

Take a look at forum admin > components > custom message - 'Sneak Peek Statement' - and take a quick look at the popup help. This might be what you need...

Perfect!  I had been looking for this and did not think of opening this tab!  Can you help with permissions?  Guests can currently post in the guest forum, though they cannot view what is actually posted by either guests/themselves or members?  I cannot see what else I have to click on to allow them to post/view this forum only?

Am I right in thinking that you mean guests can post in the guest forum, but they can't view the guest forum??

Firstly you should check to make sure you have the correct options checked for the permission set you want guests to use.. See Forum > Permissions > Manage Permission Sets

If you click 'Edit Permission' on the set you currently have guests assigned to, you will see a big list of settings. Sounds like you might have something like 'Can Reply to Existing Topics in a Forum' checked, while 'Can View Forum' unchecked. Although I'm not sure this combination allows the guest to post at all, it is an example of a combination you may have which is allowing a guest to post but not view. Check what you want checked and update.

Then, managing forum groups (Forum > Forums > Manage Groups and Forums) you can either select 'Add Permission' to add, or 'Forum Permissions' to edit.

If you have your permissions set up properly it should just be a case of clicking one of the previously mentioned options (which ever is applicable) and then add permissions, pick your usergroup and then pick your permissions set you want that usergroup to use.

Hope this helps

The only thing I have left to do is to allow guests to see that there is a forum for registered members.  Guests can now post, and view other guest's posts, in the guest forum, however I cannot figure out how to let them see that there is a second forum for registered members and not view what's inside.  I have their permission set as read only for the second forum.  Currently, guests only see the guest forum when they click forum on the website.  I have "Can view a list of forums only" checked in the permission set for read only.

I want guests to see that there is a second forum, but when they click it they are denied viewing whats inside. I have one group, with two forums (Guest and Off Topic) under that group.

so yeah, like I said, view forum lists only will do the trick... and requested you list the permissions for this read only usergroup / permission set as I suspect you have something else letting them in... screenshot of the permissions panel would be best...
