Ok so you're saying that by removing the /* */ its breaking your forum? I honestly can't see anything wrong with the code you've pasted, although for future reference if you could just paste the code directly into your post, you can then use syntax highlighter to get it to display nicely.. It's a lot easier to read and diagnose than a screenshot!

Can you try clearing your PHP error log, run the site with the code back to normal (the way it breaks your page) and then check the log for any errors?

Only pay attention to errors, not warnings. It should give us an idea of what the problem is in this case.

Unfortunately this is the SP error log, really looking for the PHP error log, which is normally in a file called php_error.log or viewable through your browser from your hosting or through Apache.

looks to me like you copied pasted some text from the post but did not use the raw code to get the proper charset... by that I mean, you apostrophes or single quotes look backwards which can happen if you copy and paste from wysiwyg, hence the code viewer...

try replacing the single quotes with ones you type in...

Well, I noticed that there was an update for the unified theme and mysteriously now it works...  I had taken off the comments in the code, then I checked again to see if it was working, which it wasn't, and noticed there was a update...updated, now it's working again.  BTW...this was only happening to the unified theme.

Had you commented out the code in other themes? I thought you only changed Unified, I also don't think there have been any updates to Unified? Either way I'm glad it is resolved
