I used to have a problem with the registration emails with the password not ever showing up. Then I started using Postman SMTP and that fixed this problem. However now the forum registration is not working at all. After filling in all the details on the registration page, you are supposed to check your email for the password.
Several subscribers told me that the email never arrived. Then I did a test registration myself, and also never received the email with the password. Postman SMTP is working fine since the notices about new forum posts get delivered without any problem. So what could be the reason that the email with the password doesn't show up anymore, effectively disabling the forum for any new members?
I do know that the recent WordPress 4.6 update has broken the reset password email so perhaps it has also broken this one - although I have not heard of that. If you go to the forum admin > options > email settings and turn off the options 'Use the Simple:Press new user email version' and 'Use the following email settings' then you have completely disassociated Simple:Press from anything to do with these emails and you can see if WordPress is, in fact, sending anything out.

Previously I had the "new user email" unchecked and the "email address setting" was checked. Now, as per your suggestion, I unchecked both and did a test registration, and still no password email is showing up.
So what does this mean, and what do I do now? Essentially the forum is shut down for new users.
Followup - just now, as an experiment, I deactivated the Postman SMTP plugin and did another forum test registration. Still no password email, but this time I got this error message as per the attached file. Maybe this makes sense to you.
The earlier ones all went via Postman SMTP, and there was never any error message. This only showed up when I deactivated Postman. My inbox is definitely not full, and all the other emails (which supposedly were sent, but where are they?) were sent to a whole bunch of different people who never received them.
All the other notification emails arrive just fine. It's only the registration emails that are not working.
So the issue is not my host, but all my forum subscribers who are not getting their password emails. At this point my forum is shut down for new subscribers. Since it is an essential part of my business, this is quite a serious issue for me. Any suggestion what I can do to get this password email delivery system working again?
Jut to put this in perspective - it is not your forum that people register for - it is your website,.
Simple:Press does not and never has run the code that sends emails. It is a WordPress function. and thus nothing to do with Simple:Press.
You sent an error response before and this showed that the email arrived at your hosting service. As I said before - you need to talk to them. WordPress is clearly sending them out. The probable question is - why is your hosting service not passing them on

You were right, it is a hosting issue. Hostgator told me that there is a known issue that yahoo bounces back their emails and that they are working on fixing it. Aside from yahoo, the registration emails are just a finicky issue and don't always arrive, even with other providers like gmail.
I do understand that SP has nothing to do with sending the registration emails. However I also didn't know that my hosting company has something to do with it. Luckily I sent you the bounce back email and you pointed me in the right direction. At least now I am not freaking out not knowing what is going on.
yes, odd indeed... glad to hear its on the path to being restored at your server...
