Support Forum
Since the update to 5.3.1, our main forum RSS feed (tripawds.com/forums/rss) is pulling in the page title for every item instead of the topic title. See attached screenshots below.
We had been using the WordPress RSS widget to show recent forum posts in the sidebar throughout our site, and noticed after the update that all topic titles in the feed were being replaced by the page title.
Side Note: I have since fixed this issue by using the Template Tags SP Plugin and the Recent posts widget. Nice work on this and great documentation!
I have confirmed, however, that the issue persists with the feed we are using in this tab on our Facebook page. Note how the Page title is being used for every topic. Viewing the feed with various readers generated the same results. The feeds for individual forums and topics (e.g.; tripawds.com/forums/technical-support/rss/) experience the same behavior.
Any suggestions?

UPDATE: I noticed in another thread that one user attributed broken RSS feeds to the All In On Security plugin. We do not use that, but we do run All In One SEO. So I looked into a plugin conflict...
AIOSEO has an option to "Disable SEO On this Page/Post". After selecting that option on our Forums page, the feed displays correct topic titles as expected. We cannot, however, disable SEO for our forums.
I do not wish to start a feud between plugin developers pointing fingers at each other, but this is what AIOSEO had to say in a related support topic...
You should contact the author of that plugin, then; All in One SEO Pack shouldn't be running when an RSS feed is being output in any case, not if it's being done properly; and there are no standard WordPress functions being used in that file to output the title tag.
Any suggestions?

hey gone have a talk with Peter on that one! We collaborate together a lot... not much chance of feuding...
which is interesting because it works for them and works for me on my sites...
btw, you realize that All in One is not doing SEO on your forum pages anyways, right? they are not forum aware... so its not helping your SEO in the forum... any SEO, ie titles, canonical urls, etc that you are getting is coming from the forum... please try disabling it on the forum page and tell me what SEO you are missing??
I will look into this some more with Peter, but so far cannot duplicate the messed up feeds...

That's great to hear. Far too many times I've opened support tickets about plugin conflicts where develops just blame it on the other plugin.
I did find it interesting that there was another WP support topic describing an identical issue with another plugin, where Peter said what he did above.
I also found it very interesting that both the AIOSEO support forums and these did have the same RSS issue. And for the record, it appears I updated both plugins on the same day so it's hard to tell what caused it.
All in One is not doing SEO on your forum pages anyways
I've always wondered about that... our forums do get indexed so I'll try disabling AIOSEO on that page and see how it goes. If you and Peter want me to re-enable it and/ot test anything, just holler.
Thanks!

be sure to check forum - components - seo... thats where the vast majority will come from...
are you generating a sitemap? currently, the aioseo sitemap is not supported.. but working with Peter to get the needed hooks so it can be...

Got it, had done that but just updated settings now that I know AIOSEO is not affecting these pages.
are you generating a sitemap?
Yes, but not via AIOSEO. We use a separate solution that generates maps for all sites on the network.
Thanks again.

Sorry, don't mean to stray off the topic here, but hopefully a quick question:
Is there a way to set the SP SEO options to generate the browser title without changing the page title? I like how AIOSEO would keep the simple "Forums" title for all our forum pages while generating a more seo-friendly browser title. If not, no biggie, the titles just get very long for some forums/topics.

the page title - assuming you mean the page title above the forum is generated by your wp theme... just put the forum on its own wp page template and you can output a fixed title if you like...
Neither Peter nor I have been able to replicate your feed title issue either... you mentioned that is was happening on their support forum but Peter doesnt think so... but All in One did push out update today which included fix for multiple titles they had...
might still be something on our end, I have added something to our feeds to make sure other plugins know they are feeds... if you are still having the issue with the new All in One, I can give it to you to try...

Sorry my bad, meant to say "neither had"... our feeds are fine with AIO disabled on the forums page and I'm OK with the titles as is for now.
Thanks again.
