Support Forum
Some members tell me when they search in my forum, some of the links lead to actual threads within forums that they don't even know exist, and are effectively disabled.
I didn't realize this would happen to forums that are disabled. Is there a way to hide these forums and threads from searches? Even though the members can't actually see the disabled forums.
thanks
Rob
disabled forum? locked? button... hmmm... at the risk of looking silly, going to have to do research as not familiar with this, but Andy seems to be...:(
but it wont give search results for forums with no permission... so a bit confused is the forum disabled or do they not have permission?

I believe the forum is simply disabled. I have a bunch I am cleaning out, will soon be deleting so maybe that will solve this issues once I clean them out.
Now when I checked the permission on the disabled forums, they are set to Full Access (what my regular members have for the main content...) Maybe that's the problem? When a forum is disabled, and I don't want it to show up in the search results, I ought to set the permissions to remove access....?

no, actually does clear it up... I was not aware (???) of a disable feature - lol, see it now... so more than likely when added, we just missed checking all functions for disabled state... I was actually more worried about the permissions since I know that checking is there and could not duplicate...
No, technically, since we offer a disable state, we should do the checking with no other actions needed on your part... a ticket is open and we will investigate and get it fixed up - hopefully in next version due next week....

....meantime, I went in an manually changed the permissions so no one else gets false search results.....
Can you please confirm that you have actually tried and seen this behaviour yourself? (You said in the first post it was reported by your users).
I have been investigating this today and have so far been unable to replicate the problem.
If you, on the other hand CAN replicate the problem can you please provide me with your search option settings?
