Are you testing this on my site? or another?
I can't recall, but I do believe I tried it and got the same results as he did.
If you tried this on my site now it won't work since I changed all the settings so the results won't show up now as reported.
Search settings? not sure. Sorry. I believe simply dropping a key word into the search field...nothing more.
No - I am testing on development test sites that we maintain for the purpose. For me, disabled forums are successfully excluded from search results and looking closely at the code - have always been so since the disabled development was carried out for version 5.3 just over 2 years ago,
This was why I was asking if you could check this for yourself, on your own site, one more time.

There may be more going on....I logged in as a test user, and did search. See image one. Now, that search result, and the access denied notice, showed up, BUT, this forum it comes from is not disabled.
Weird.
So, I logged in as me, and searched same, found that link, and still no access....even as admin.
See image2 Could it have something to do with the fact that this was from my old forum, and see the users. I am posting as "guest".
Not sure if this has some, none or all to do with the original query from my member, who was getting many access denied links and sent to forum threads that were effectively disabled, but this post is an older one, and, as seen on the second screen shot, the poster, me, was posting as "guest".
I did create this forum by migrating over from my original ubb threads forum last summer. Maybe, maybe not, that helps...?

yeah, like Andy, I cannot replicate either... all the disabled and permission checking seems working...
image 1, a bit confused.... thought you said it was as guest? but you are logged in? should this user have access?
in your permissions, are you using the sneak peek features?
might be worth going to forum - toolbox - housekeeping and try clearing the auths cache...
