Support Forum
Hello,
I'm having a difficult time setting this forum up. It's a bit more confusing than I originally figured. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why I can't add a topic to what I've already done. Is there something else I need to do? Here is what I'm seeing now.
The title of the forum should be Points After, but it just says "Forum"
As mentioned, no "add topic" button or anything that shows this is an actual forum. Can someone please help? Thanks.
Let's start with your first post.
Simple:Press uses a WordPress page to display itself on. The page you are using to show the forum has a page name of 'forum' and a slug of 'forum-3' (which I asked you about before but I believe you did not answer)
So the first question is - why do you think it should be named 'Points After'? If you want to change it you need to create a new WP page for the forum to use and then link that page in the forum admin > WP Integration > Page and permalink where you can select the page you want to use and also update the forum permalink when you have made that change.
Secondly - the page you linked to suggests that you have not yet created any actual forums. It states this quite clearly. So are you saying that you haver actually done so? I.e., gone to the forum admin > manage Groups and Forums and set groups and forums up ready for use?

I've never used this forum before. Matter of fact, the only forum I've setup before was a bbpress forum and it was a little simpler than this one for obvious reasons. No, I was not aware I needed to create another page, that is helpful. If there is an actual guide to all of this, that would be even more helpful.
As to why I want it named "Points After" is that is the name of our previous forum, and we are a college football (team specific) site. Fits with the theme of college football.
To get more clarity on your second point, are you implying that I need to create some form of a sub forum? Before you answer that, here is basically what my vision is in what I'm trying to accomplish:
- You go to our site and the menu states "Forum" or "Forums" depends on what I decide.
- You click on this and "Points After" is under this tab.
- When you click on "Points After" and it leads you to a bunch of topics, similar to this forum I'm posting in.
That's really all I'm trying to accomplish. If you can assist with this, that would be excellent. Thank you.
No, you are not creating another page... all of the forum content appears on a single wp page... by default, we create one at install, but you can change it to whatever you want... edit the wp page like you would any other page... call it what you want, title it whatever you want...
have your read our tutorials on getting started?? see: https://simple-press.com/docum.....g-started/
once you have the page set up, then you have to create the groups and forums you want... groups are collection of forums... forums are where persons post new topics to create content... you can have 1 or more groups and then 1 or more forums in each group... just depends on how you want to structure you site... here you will see 3 groups... each group then has a set of forums...
once you set up your groups and forums, then you will have users that can add content... based on permissions of course...

willi351 You have the "Forum" page created, so you're off to a great start.
1. You can change the title of the Page to "Points After" if you like, by editing the page. The actual forums will appear beneath any content you add in the Page Editor. Alternatively, you can choose to hide the Page Title (text) and use a graphic instead via SP Admin -> Options -> General Display Settings -> Forum Page Title
2. Next you need to add some forums. If you intend to have a lot of different forums (for discussing different topics) you can create Groups to categorize your forum discussions.
3. Then you can add topics to the forums, and browse the multitude of options for content, members, users, user groups, permissions, member ranks, and much more...
Hope this helps!
