I want to create tags in front of members names like I did in vbulletin.  I want some of my members depending on what group they are in to have  either (SSKM) , (SASK), or (sask) in front of their name.  I also want a way to identify if they are PC, PS3, or XBOX.  If u can help me I would really appretiate it.  These are the things that make this forum not as good as our old one.

Personally I would suggest you look at the Simple:Press 'Identities' plugin. Mr Papa or Brandon may have other recommendations and if so, I am sure they will post them here.

But of course Simple:Press will never be the same as vBulletin for the simple reason that it isn't vBulletin and never will be. Nor do we plan to steer it towards being a 'copy' of vBulletin. nd which one you use is, of course, entirely your choice.

in front of their names where?  everywhere?  or just in their user info area?

I dont think you want to use the identities plugin... that will allow you to create icons (like my twitter or facebook here in user area) that link to a profile somewhere else...

I think you more would want the Custom Profile Fields plugin... that allows you to add an additional entry on a user's profile for them to enter their info or affiliation... you could then display that in the user info area (topic view for each post) below their avatar...

sorry, can you explain?  cant see the tags?

are you saying you added the custom profile display plugin and added items to user's profiles?  did you also add the template display function so they show up?

see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....le-fields/

not sure what happened on your code, but does not see you used the code button... looks like ${}...

what is $platform???  if you custom profile field is 'platform', then just use it...  the help we reference indicated $name... $ indicates php variable name... but we really want you to replace it with the string of your custom profile field...
