Support Forum
One of my forum subscribers wrote me that while he is writing a forum post, it keeps timing out and he has to login again. How is the time that a user is logged in controlled? When I as the admin log in, I never have this problem. What would shorten the logged in time of a user and how can he or I adjust this?
timing out? php cpu time exceeded? or do you mean getting logged out as you say later? sorry, but they are two significantly different things...
oddly, we are unsure why wp occasionally logs folks out... and almost randomly... sometimes folks can stay logged into wp for days or weeks, and other times it occurs multiple times per day... might be related to how cookies are handled on each persons computer...
but simple press does not log folks in or out... that is wp... as a plugin, we just ride on top of the wp users, registration and log in system...

Sorry, I did mean the user apparently gets logged out quite quickly. I am curious, if I use my own wp site, I don't get logged out, but when a user somewhere else accesses the forum of the same wp site, he gets logged out. So it appears that the problem could not be the wp site since otherwise we would both get logged out. Is this correct? So it seems that there must be another factor involved. Any idea where I could track down the cause behind this?
we dont log folks out... as I said, it appears somewhat random, and could be related to how long his browser is set to retain cookies or he removes... wp uses a cookie when logged in... if cookie disappears, you are logged out...
