Support Forum
Hi,
When I disabled the page title, my menu plugin didn't show the forum title.
There's a title filter in sp-load-forum.php line 93, which calls the function sp_setup_page_title in sp-forum-support-functions.php on line 594. It looks to me like the function returns an empty title when a setting to display the page title is disabled in the forum settings.
I have two questions:
1) How can I disabled the page title, but still keep the data passing to the menu ?
2) In case the page title is enabled, I see "Consulting Zone | AppGo2Market | Consulting Zone" which is the page title, followed by the site name, followed again by the page title. Can this be modified ?
Thanks,
Ronen.
- By 'menu' do you literally mean the dark grey bar with the search field to the right of it? You mean it disappears from there? If so then it sounds like it might not be using standard WordPress functions to display the menu. You will note that the page title is not displayed above but the page DOES appear in the menu. I would need to know how the menu is being created to come close to working out why it vanishes.
- Yes indeed - forum admin > components > seo - you can set the page title structure there...

yes. the bar with the search. The "Consulting Zone" menu item, that is actually the forum, disappears from my site menu if I disable the title of the page. I'd like to remove page title, and to keep the site menu working.

As I said we will need to know how that menu is being generated. Removing the text from the page title should have no effect on the menu if being generated using standard WordPess core menu functions. It just suggests that your theme is perhaps using something different

I'm using uber mega menu from code canyon. When the menu item for simple press disappeared on the simple press page only, I opened a ticket in the uber menu support. They have looked into that and replied with the following:
"The issue doesn't stem from the menu, and isn't related to UberMenu at all, so unfortunately I don't have any insight into the specific code that causes this issue. The code that is removing the title could be in any of your plugins or your theme.
Working logically, this is occurring on a forum page - and that is the most obvious difference from the other pages. So it is likely related to the forum plugin you are using. I hunted down the plugin and downloaded the Simple Press forum plugin, and then did a global search for the_title. I found a title filter in sp-load-forum.php line 93, which calls the function sp_setup_page_title in sp-forum-support-functions.php on line 594. It looks to me like the function returns an empty title when a setting to display the page title is disabled in the forum settings.
If I had to bet, I'd put my money on that setting being the issue (though it's certainly possible there is another filter elsewhere doing something similar). That filter is too generic and shouldn't be stripping the title out of menu items, but it is. From the look of the code, there's probably a setting you can enable/disable in the forum settings to display the title."
Indeed, my page title was disabled. when I enabled, I got a title I don't want or need, but, my menu got back to live.
Is there a way to keep the menu working, and still have the title forum title disabled ?
Thanks, Ronen.

no need to address their misunderstanding - wont help...
but why are you disabling the page title? to remove it from the actual page display above the forum? If so, just remove the page title from the wp theme page template... if you are using the default page template for the forum, then just create a custom page template for the forum page and remove it from that template...
if removed, for another reason, please explain...

I have a page title of my own, and it's part of the branding/look an feel of the site.
You can see: here (The upper part - has a banner with title).
This is why I don't need another title.
Moving the page title from WP didn't help, and actually, for the sake of maintenance, I'd rather keep the name of the pages.
Current situation - I don't need the page title, but as soon as I disable it, the forum "consulting zone" menu disappears.
Best Regards,
Ronen.
sorry, what am I looking at there that you dont like??? the pink strip?

The Pink stripe is mine. That's my title.I like it.
What I don't want to have is what's in the forum's pink square below - the first text you see:
"Consulting Zone | AppGo2Market | Consulting Zone"
When I use the settings and remove the title, this text disappears (and so does the forum menu).
I'd like to remove it, and keep my menu working.
Thanks,
Ronen.
Please let me know, if you need me use the "remove title" option, and keep the site for some time for you to see.
You would be able to see that the "Consulting Zone | AppGo2Market | Consulting Zone" is gone, but so does the "Consulting Zone" from the top menu, leaving a blank link.
...I want the menu to remain in place, regardless of dropping the "Consulting Zone | AppGo2Market | Consulting Zone".
Thanks,
Ronen.
