forum tools missing

Hi,

First – fantastic work on the version 5.  I really like the plugin integration and the themes separated off. Most of all: Being able to update automatically is wonderful. I would go months not upgrading on one of my forums before just because I really did not want to make a mistake.

This issue could be some kind of permissions issue, but I have looked over my backend permissions and it does not seem to be that.

My issue on this is there is nothing hovering or otherwise showing to edit a post headline or delete a post. It does offer the “Edit” button, with hover message “Edit this post.”

I just updated to the latest themes and I updated to the current build, 7960. Theme I am using is iForum v1.0.11.

Any suggested would be appreciated.

Thanks,

John

so are you saying the forum tools dont appear when hovering on a forum row or topic row?

interesting. iforum was originally intended as an experimental theme but quite a few folks ended up using it during the pre-release phase.

There does seem to be an issue getting the forum tools to show on forum view pages…  but it shows up fine on the topic view pages…

will open a ticket to see what is going on…

how odd.  turns out that theme is missing the template tag to display the forum tools on forum view pages.  strange it never came up during the pre-release…

will get it fixed up…

Hi,

After upgrading to v5, the toolbar is now missing from the reply window (the one you see above the window where you write a post). Any ideas where it went and how I can get it back? Thank you in advance for your time.

Did you download the plugin and if yes, did you mess with the controls? Just had that problem myself experimenting to see what would happen..

…and that is my question though unsure what controls TinCan is referring to.

I did everything I was asked based on forumwiki. Deactivated 4.5.1, deleted it, then uploaded v5. Same process as always. Any ideas?

but that’s not the question. Did you also download and install the editor plugin?

I wasn’t aware that I was supposed to install an editor plugin. How do I do that?

a quick search would have answered that question or looking in our V5 codex…

I’m having a problem viewing the admin forum tools after upgrade using the default theme.

Doesn’t show up on hover, and no icon on the actual topic so I can no longer delete.  I checked and Admin>Global Admin Options>Display edit forum tools is activated.

Also, I can’t change the Akismet setting in Global Admin Options.  It says it saved, but always puts it back to Do not use Akismet.  However the other options on that screen save if I change them.

I tried in both Firefox and Chrome, and disabled W3 Total Cache but that didn’t seem to help.

Other than the missing edit tool and akismet issue, I LOVE this 5.0 version.  Especially the merge forum feature, been wanting to do that for awhile and it made it so easy.

Thank you!

I also tried switching from custom theme to default to see if it was a theme javascript conflict but that didn’t help.  Other mouseovers work, but for some weird reason not the edit post option.

wow. think we need to remove that option since its template tag controlled now…  but obviously not a player here…

do you have a link to your site so we can look? may need to come back later for temp account that can actually use the forum tools…
