sorry, not following the question...  default view?

are you talking about the main forum page - which is group view?

if so, you can replace group view with forum view if you have only 1 forum (forum - options - display settings)...

otherwise, the group view is the main forum page... if you want folks to go start on a different one, then just make the link people use to the forum to be forum or topic view...  but not sure I understand since topic view to start is kind of pointless... as is forum view unless you only have one forum (which can be handled per earlier point)...

if other, please explain further...
