Hi

I have just started integrating simple press in my site.

The FORUM menu item in the back-end disappeared. I can no longer change settings or manage the forums. All I can do is use it in the front-end.

How does that come?

Now I login and the menu item disappeared. Deactivated and reactivated the plugin but that didn't help.

Regards

Christophe

Well we had a couple of people say this has just happened to them using Jetpack and the WordPress stats. Could this be your problem?

Oh boy... I found the problem.

When "Contact form 7" is activated then it replaces the "Forum" menu item with "Contact" menu item. When I deactivate Contact Form 7 then "Forum" menu item comes back.

How can this be solved? :/

Cheers

Wow - that's a new one. We have been running alongside Contact Form 7 for years and years now without any such problem. Have they issues a recent update or something?

I wonder if contact form 7 is specifying an absolute location in the wp menu vice just adding it (would be bad of course)...

perhaps try deactivating simple press and then reactivating...  it might just fall in line if contact form 7 is being greedy...

Hi

I (de)activated both plugins in different sequences but that don't help. As soon as "Contact form 7" is activated it replaces the "Forum" menuitem no matter what.

Since I was only trying out Contact form 7 and there is no real support option there I have ditched it and replaced it with Gravity forms and then I have no issue so I will continue with Gravity forms and simple press.

Regards

Gravity Forms is very well supported. Did you know if the Contact 7 was a newly minted update? I m still somewhat surprised at the problem considering how often we find it installed alongside SP.

Not sure, I installed it for the first time 2 days ago.

It would be a good thing if someone else could try the latest version of CF7 and SP together. I guess the same thing will happen.

I wanted to contact CF7 but they only have that public forum on the wordpress site and I was like arghh I'm not even going that way.

Gravity and SP are my new friends.

I have it on my list to give it a try.

The one thing I did not think of last night - but you may have tried anyway - is activation order. This can actually make a difference as WP tends to load plugin code in the order in which they are activated. Sometimes we have found that switching the order can make a difference to one of those obscure problems you can't solve or find a reason for...
