in the meantime, lets see if we can get your display right... since you cannot access the admin, lets do in db...

find the sfoptions table...  look for entries for option_name of

sfinloop
sfmultiplecontent

try setting the option_value to 1 for both... if they dont exist, create them...  leave the option id blank if creating and it will auto fill that one...

This one's got me stymied as well.  I'm using to writing and hacking other people's code, but had no idea where to start here.  I'm using WP Super Cache, but it's not cached for logged-in users.

And yeah, logged in as ID 1.  It's the only one on the site with Admin rights.  No translation.

But I think you've stumbled across my problem.  As for access plugins, I *am* using Advanced Access Manager.  And here's what I've found.  I was too quick to say the raw code I pasted into the DB was the same - it omitted the "Super Admin" capability I needed to get into Advanced Access Manager.  So I added that to what you gave me.

s:11:"super_admin";s:1:"1";

Now that I can get back into AAM, there's absolutely nothing under the main Admin account that shows ANYTHING other than the "Admins" link off the "Forums" menu.  Nothing under "Capabilities" or anywhere else.

Evidently AAM and SPF don't play well together.  I have a hunch I'm not the first person to find that out - off to search the forums to see if someone's already run into that one.

how did you add it?  its a serialized array... so did you adjust the stuff at beginning... ie change a14 to a15?  sorry, if you already know how serialized strings work...

I have heard of others using AAM (I think) but have not heard of such an issue as this...  now I know where you came up Super Admin vs WP admin... ;)

will do some research myself...

lots of topics in the wp org forums about it blocking access to other admin panels added by plugins... most topics are unanswered though...

is there a configuration panel or something in the admin for controlling access to other admin pages added by plugins?

Yes, changed the a14.  Here's what's there now:

a:15:{s:13:"administrator";s:1:"1";s:11:"super_admin";s:1:"1";s:18:"SPF Manage Options";s:1:"1";s:17:"SPF Manage Forums";s:1:"1";s:22:"SPF Manage User Groups";s:1:"1";s:22:"SPF Manage Permissions";s:1:"1";s:21:"SPF Manage Components";s:1:"1";s:16:"SPF Manage Users";s:1:"1";s:17:"SPF Manage Admins";s:1:"1";s:18:"SPF Manage Toolbox";s:1:"1";s:24:"SPF Manage Configuration";s:1:"1";s:19:"SPF Manage Profiles";s:1:"1";s:15:"SPF Manage Tags";s:1:"1";s:17:"SPF Manage Themes";s:1:"1";s:18:"SPF Manage Plugins";s:1:"1";}

Still no joy.  Doesn't make sense to me that there's NOTHING about SPF showing up in AAM at all.  It allows for ridiculously granular control of EVERYTHING.  That's why I installed it in the first place, because the default WP roles didn't allow me to close off some of the areas I wanted closed (mine is a muilti-author site with different writers using different custom post types, so AAM seemed the best way to limit confusion).  Might be time to re-examine whether I should just blow that out and come up with a different solution.

In answer to your second, it DOES allow you to define who gets access to what admin screens.  But it at least presents you with the OPTION, in all those cases.  SPF is the first plugin I've run across that AAM doesn't even see is installed.

Starting to think that Advanced Access Manager is creating more headaches that it solves.  Unless there's a workaround that will get me into the SPF admin side, I'm going to try and find something to replace AAM.

Ugh.  Thanks for walking me through this.

I just downloaded it to see what's up... but may not have a lot of time tonight...

we do add our admin panels using the standard wp api for that...  but we dont create new wp roles for our stuff - just capabilities...

I'm gonna get rid of Advanced Access Manager.  My current panic is about what kind of mess it'll leave behind once I blow it out.

Even once all this is through, I don't know that it will solve the problem of the five unformatted forums showing.  Will let you know what I track down.

Thanks for the help so far!

well, when its gone, and you get access to the sp admin panels, go to forum - integration - page and permalink... and try setting the display within loop and unset the allow multiple display...  may try diff combinations... and may try the strict wp api option too..
