I had a number of members I wanted to remove .
Deleted them in SP, and checked in WP , they still appear at the bottom of the index page.
Then went into data base (PHP Admin) and deleted them there BUT they still show at bottom of forum index page , how DO I get rid ?
Altered a setting and they have gone please ignore this post or admin delete

First things first.
Are you really saying that you deleted users in the SP admin but they still showed up in the WP admin?

Ermmmmm finger trouble 
Solved the problem by going into Profile Options and changing from ' Let member choose display name' to 'Display format if member cannot choose'
I liked that bit!
