Support Forum
I love simple:press and all the greatness that it does, but I was just wondering, if you'd ever considered a different business model some other major Wordpress plugins are using (think woocommerce, EDD and others).
Give the base plugin and support for that plugin away as you're currently doing and charge individually for add-ons as opposed to tying it into your support. I think it seems easier to sell features than support. Though I do have to admit $39 for all the plugins is a steal I feel like some of them could sell for 20-30 dollars on their own.
Just some food for thought as an alternative method of monetizing simple:press afterall the more money you guys make the better the forum becomes right?
thanks for the input! we are always looking at our business model and ways to improve it..
We actually looked at it when we took simple press from totally free but decided against it... perhaps because we were not sure at all what the response would be... but its been pretty good so looking at other options...
one of the biggest reasons for current set up was the time spent answering support issues... the two of us were spending 80% of time answer support topics (often the same issue or customization work not bugs) and only 20% working fixes and new features... we had to reverse that trend...

No problem! Monetization and business strategies always interest me I find myself wondering why a business has chosen one method over another or why they've priced something someway instead of another way. In the end, if what you guys are doing is working for you, there's no need to change it. Just keep the new stuff coming and every couple of years I'll pop in for a few months and download the new stuff.
