Support Forum
My forum disappeared from public view. To the best of my knowledge this is what I did before it happened:
- I added a new admin user in WP
- I promoted the Admin user to SP admin user
- I then went to WP Admin screen and deleted the old WP/SP admin user
- WHen I logged on as the new Admin user, the forum is no longer visible, and when you type the URL, just get the standard WP error message, "It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help."
I got the webhost to do a restore. Jut wasted $15 and 2 hours - as the backup I had was not complete.
I am going to try the backup and restore myself this time:
If I do a complete backup of the site [ i.e. all of the files in home directory, MySQL databases, and email forwarders and filters], the SImpllllePress stuff will get backed up too - Right? I was going to use the Backup software that came with the CPanel.
If the old WP admin you removed was the SAME admin that installed SP - and of when you removed that admin in WP if you checked the option to remove their posts - then the deletion would have deleted the page the forum uses for display. So - that would explain the problem if that is what you did.
And if that IS what you did then simply go to the WP admin - create a new, empty Page for the forum to use with the slug of your choice. Then go to the forum admin, Integration, Page and permalink and select the new page for the forum to use. Update forum permalink and all should be back.
To answer the question though - yes a full cPanel backup will include the SP data,
