We have sadly had a small percentage of users whose permission data has become scrambled after the update and even with a users database to test with we have been unable to pinpoint what the problem is that causes it. It sounds like your test system had no problem either.

There are two options for fixing this, The first is to perform surgery on the database table which is fairly easy but seems to make most people panic. We can talk you through this.

The second is to reset the permissions back to their default and then re-establish them. This sounds nasty but is probably the quickest unless you have a very large number of permission sets you have defined and many, many forums.

To do this go to the forum admin > Permissions > Reset Permissions. After it has been used you will need to check the permissions sets and re-make any changes you may have had before and then reassign user groups and permission sets to your forums.

I am so sorry you have been inconvenienced with this problem. we really have spent hours and hours trying to resolve it - running update after update and have never been able to replicate it so that it's cause could be found.
