Support Forum
First, I am the owner of Inspiration Point and I've implemented Simple Press Forum on my site. I probably should have seen it; however, I discovered a problem with my forum yesterday.
I was showing a friend my forum and I needed to walk through the steps of adding new members to my forum. I clicked on Forum in the menu and proceeded to add a member based on a guest status.
What did we get? I got the Wordpress.org login screen; however there was no way to add a new member. Not good. This is probably why I've not seen much activities on my forum. I need to get this fixed.
I'd have preferred a method that looks like this:
1 Guest decides to become a member and click on button for "New Member".
2. I'd get a notification to add someone to membership list. (this may change)
3. There are some people that I will add to a special membership list. Hence the need to see who's signing up. It would be nice if they can say "I go to Shore Vineyard". Of course, I'd have to have some idea of who's claiming it. Gee, a guy in California is claiming to go to a church in New Jersey. Really?
Thanks for the help. I believe most of the plugins are already installed. If it isn't I'll install it.
Users on your website are not the province of Simple:Press. Simple:Press is a WordPress plugin and WordPress provides the core functionality of your website - including the whole management of user registrations, login, logout etc.
If you are unhappy with the way that WordPress accepts new user registrations etc., then I suggest that you look to install either a membership plugin or - if you just want a better looking option - a registration and login plugin. Depends what control you want over it although buy the sound of it a membership plugin may be your best option.
We do have an article on our Codex (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ip-plugin/) that describes how to integrate a membership plugin with SP although this is geared very much towards 'WishList Member', which is one of the most popular. There are many others and you really need to review their features and plus points.

At the most basic you have plugins available like 'Theme My Login' which can force email verification or admin approval of new registrants as well as add fields to the registration process and effect the visual look of the forms. At the other end of the scale you have sophisticated membership plugins that control access to pages and individual posts etc.
So it depends what you want to do.
I would start by taking a look through the WP plugin repository at what is on offer.

Thanks. I could look at that shortly, however I have additional problems which may explain why I have this issue.

Perhaps if that gets answered, things may improve!
will leave that one over there... any plugin that properly adds members using the wp api should work fine for this topic...
