Hey,

So I'm working on setting up our forums in full now, and noticed that all user profiles show their email. How can I hide this - that's not something I want to have displayed!

Additionally - after adding the "Custom Profile Fields" Plugin, and adding a few - they don't show up on user profiles? How do I fix this?

I figured out the e-mail aspect!

Like an idiot - I was looking at profiles as an admin. Only admins can see email addresses.

I was literally just about to post that fact to you! A;ways remember - as a rule , AP Admins can see all and go anywhere!

Being template driven means, in this particular instance,  adding custom fields manually to templates where you want to show them.

Best first stop is the codex article for that plugin which you will find listed at https://simple-press.com/docum.....e-plugins/

Well, it looks like all members can see emails, actually. Have users complaining about it now :/

Confirmed by created a member account and checking profiles.

Then you probably have the permission 'Can view email and IP addresses of members' turned on in the permission set(s) you are using.

Yeah I figured that bit out - somehow it was/is mapping people who should be members into the moderator group...

Well the first thing to check for is are they being mapped correctly - forum admin > user groups > map users to user groups. These work against WordPress roles. If you are using a membership plugin then most - though not all - deal with WP roles properly. A notable exception is WishList Member but that one is easily solved with a small role plugin.

If you have no mapping set up then all users should then be placed in the default user group for vanilla members - which is also set on the above mapping panel.
