Due to the nature of some membership sites I'm creating, I'd like to give members an opportunity to hide their true username, but I don't know how. I see how members can select a new "display" name, which shows up as their Username in the member's Profile page. So far so good.
But when you're on a member's Profile page, if you then click the little tab at the bottom called "View full profile for xxxxx", their true Username isn't displayed on the page, but it is shown up in the URL address bar. This makes it difficult to allow for anonymity.
How do I solve this? I want to allow for the Profile page to be seen. Is there a way to eliminate the "View full profile for xxxxx" tab?
I should clarify a bit.
I was talking about the "View full profile for xxxxx" tab that shows up as a tab at the bottom of the Profile page when that page is set up to be a pop-up page. I like it as a pop-up page because the true Username doesn't show up in the URL address bar. But then people can still click to see the full Profile page, and then the true username shows up in the URL address bar.
Sorry, what do you mean by username? the username is shown on both the popup and full profile page... do you by chance mean the first name and last name of the user????? not really part of the username, so checking...
but like most display elements you can easily control what is shown... so you could remove the link from the popup (but the page would still exist) or you could edit the full profile page and remove any elements you want...
just edit your sp theme (make sure its your own copy), and remove the template functions you dont want... you can find the template files in the templates directory of the sp theme you are using.. you will find template files for the profile popup and the full profile page...
