so subscriptions plugin has been released with ability to change the email notification subject... after updating, can do something like:
add_filter('sph_subscriptions_email_subject', 'my_subs_subject');
function my_subs_subject($title) {
$title = 'What you want title to be';
return $title;
}in your spFunctions.php theme file...

I can't get it to work without errors. I updated the SP plugins with updates. Then after adding filter you supplied to spFunctions file with the raw code you gave me above, I go to log out of the site to test posting with my test user account and receive the following errors:

Do I perhaps need to remove the old filter we were working with first?

I keep getting error messages about not being able to edit header information. I removed all of the filters for the spFunctions code until I hear back from you. Thanks.

yes, remove the old stuff... and only add the new... you have an error in the theme you made...
where you have spDefault, you should have spmytheme... no clue if the cause, but wrong...
