I just installed SP. Migrated my posts from a UBB  threads forum. thanks to the support here, they told me about gconverter, and I couldn't believe this was possible....but alas. Done!

Now, the new forum, non-members can see and access the entire forum. I looked and couldn't find where to stop non- members from accessing...

??thanks

Hey Rob,

Glad to hear that you migrated OK!

On the subject of user access, it depends just how you want to control things.

Blocking the entire forum page itself from non registered users is of course a WordPress thing, i.e a WP plugin that blocks access or re-directs based on user group, possibly your membership plugin.

If you are looking to control access within the forum (as we do here with our 'Pre-Membership Queries' forum) then start by taking a look at the Controlling Access pages in our Codex 'Getting Started' section.

Any questions you have of course do ask, but it's easier to link you to all the relevant information rather than re-typing to get started!

thanks. Im probably more confused than ever.

it's odd that anyone can go access all the forum without registering. I assumed any forum would automatically not be accessible to anyone until they are registered. I had SP before, and with wishlist blocked anyone from seeing the forum page simply by assigning a level in WL....make sense?

While I have your attention....when they migrated they also then brought over all the users. I need to delete most of them...is there a simple way to do that vs manually deleted one at a time that you know of???

thanks

Well basically, Simple Press just belongs to a WP page, and that page is yours to do with as you please. As you know the access to a WP page can be configured using a plugin, just as you've explained how you did it before using Wishlist.

As for removing users, Simple Press doesn't have unique users, just WordPress users. So again, there are plugins out there to better manage users including things like bulk delete. The important thing is that whatever you use has to delete users through the WP API. From my understanding if whatever plugin you use doesn't do that, SP won't be able to detect the change and remove the additional information stored.
