Tried tinkering around more, still can't get the member subscriptions to show =/ perhaps there's a different version I should have installed?

confused...are we talking subscriptions or membership subscribe (is that what you mean by auto subscribe)?? two different plugins...
in post #8 you showed a permission set but not clear which users groups (and thus which users) it applies too... you have to take a permission set and combine it with a usergoup and assign then to forums to actually have the permissions applied... is that what you have done? or are you looking for subscriptions as admin?
might be easier if we could actually see the admin... can you provide us a temp account to play with?

Yes sorry, I'm having trouble with Membership Subscribe, but the dependent subscription plugin is installed as well.
I have all permissions enabled for it, so there isn't a permission without it enabled, and all users have those permissions.

Ohhhh hey it works now, for some reason it didn't before... but I reinstalled the plugin again and now I see the auto subscription tick box under permissions.
Hopefully that should work now! All that's left is to solve my private messaging issues =/
