Support Forum
Was searching the forums for info about Wordpress social register and social login plugins that work best with Simplepress, but there aren't any, so I decided to post this topic...
It'd be great if someone could point out the WP social register/social login plugins that work with Simplepress. Have tried Social Connect and Social Login and Simple Facebook Connect, but they don't work with Simplepress. Any other options, or am I doing something wrong? Please advise. Thanks!
I know at least one of those pops up often simply because it stomps all over the WP API and script loading which is why it fails. Not sure which one though - or if it is just one of them...
Have you considered the Janrain/RPX support that is built into SP? You can see that in action on our demo site here: http://demo.simple-press.com/forum/

Hi, and thanks for taking time to help out. I already tried Janrain, but, because I'm totally blind and a large bulk of our online community members are also blind, I need something that isn't Java/AJAX/JavaScript-powered, so our community members and I can use our screen readers (JAWS For Windows) to click on the social network button we'd want to use to login or register. Social Login, Simple Facebook Connect and Social Connect provide those screen reader-friendly clickable buttons and links. Also:
When I asked someone to click the Google social buttons while Janrain was active, I got an error 404...
Understood. Let's see if Steve or Brandon have any options they can suggest. I have to admit my own personal knowledge in this area is scant as I don't use any of the social networks myself.
Or maybe someone passing by can help out...
Just for the record, the Google login on our demo site seems to be performing OK. That is the only ID I have out there and it just logged me in perfectly.

most of them (will have to look up names) seem to work fine with simple press though with some you have to disable the inline login form in the forum and replace it with a link to the wp login form or that plugins login form... but frankly, that is probably what you would want to do anyways for better accessibility.

That'd be awesome, and I'd greatly appreciate if you could perhaps point me to a WP social register/login plugin that does this, along with some steps to make it work with Simplepress, considering the things you said. Thanks again!
not sure what you have tried... ones that seem recommended (but I have never tried) would be:

http://wordpress.org/extend/pl.....l-connect/
http://wordpress.org/extend/pl.....ial-login/
but afraid I have idea how accessible they are with readers and other...
if you get one working you like, then we can help you have simple press redirect logins to it...

Thanks for the suggestions! Found something that might work -- Login Radius. Have installed it and been testing it for hours now, and what I need to do are the following:
1. User goes to our forum page, clicks the login using Facebook link from Login Radius, grants access to the Facebook app, and gets redirected to the user profile overview panel in our forum page - This is working, even with my screen reader (JAWS For Windows); but
2. When the user goes to the forums and tries to add a topic or a reply to a topic, the user is redirected to the user profile overview panel - I have already set global permissions in Simplepress to allow full access to members. I also set default signups in Wordpress as contributors. What could be wrong? Also:
3. How do I remove the "Log In" and "Register" links in the forum page, and just leave the Login using Facebook link from Login Radius? This is since I want to place the "Log In" and "Register" links in another section of our site (possibly the sidebar)...
Will greatly appreciate if you (or someone) could help me out. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!
Numbers 1 and 2 above are working now -- Seems our server just needed time for the permission changes to be applied. Now researching for more details about number 3...
It is a simple matter of removing the appropriate display functions from the SP template - in this case the spHead.php template which will be in the /templates folder of the SP theme you are using You can edit this with the SP theme editor to make it easy.
the two functions to remove are:
sp_LogInOutButton() and sp_RegisterButton(). Comment them out or remove will do the trick.
However - as always we recommend that you create your own SP theme so that any customisation is not lost during a future update. (http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-a-theme/)
