How to demote a forum to be a subforum

I searched byt cannot find out how to make an existing forum a sub forum of another existing forum.I changed the radio button subforum but don't see a place to identify the target forum nor do I see any change.

  1. If the target forum is NOT in the forum group you want it to be in then the first thing is to move it into that group.
  2. On the Manage Groups and Forums admin panel click on the 'Edit Forum' button against the target forum.
  3. Change the 'Type of Forum' to 'Sub or Child Forum'.
  4. Select the Parent in the drop down list to the right.
  5. Click on 'Update Forum' button at the bottom of the edit form.

thanks for the quick reply. What I have found is that in the some of the forums I wish to demote the drop down shows all the other forums and I can select one to be the parent. In other cases (and this is what was happening to initiate my original message) I only see groups, not forums, in the drop down. What causes the difference?

OK--problem solved! I was just too quick with trying the dropdown. You have to wait a bit for it to switch from showing groups to showing forums.
