How to display unread topics below the forum index

I notice that in this forum, on the main index page, underneath the list of forums, there is a list of unread topics that is displayed. I can't seem to see where in the settings I set up that functionality.

by default in all our themes, it is shown to users on the group view page...  as an admin, you would not see them, though you can change that behavior too...  who does not see it?
