Some additional questions for you guys:

  1. When a user went to the forum for the first time, instead of simply seeing the forums, she saw a window with her user profile info. This is confusing, and in order to then access the forum, she had to click the breadcrumb marked "forums."
  2. Same user created a couple of tests for me - a post and a topic. Both appeared even before I "approved" them. If this is truly going to be a moderated board, shouldn't the post be conditional and only be visible upon approval? The good news is I did get an email with notice of the posts but would like to view and approve prior to anything being posted.
  3. When I go to http://codex.simple-press.com/ and log-in, click on "Membership Details" what is the purpose of this link as it does not show any useful information? I was looking for the expiration date, which was no where to be found. Other than showing a subscriber version of the Wordpress dashboard this link seems useless.
  4. Is there a discount for renewing my Simple Press subscription?
  5. Do I get warned before the subscription expires?

  1. See the forum admin > Profiles > Options to change this option for first visit.
  2. Please see: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....ions-work/
  3. Yes - it sucks doesn't it? It is a product of the WishList Member login widget which we can not get rid of. Actually - they have just released a new version which we have now installed so I will look and see if they have a better alternative.
  4. Yes if renewed within a set period - a month I believe it is.
  5. As it happens you do now thanks to the new version of WishList just mentioned. Seems to be a new feature.

Brief docs - took way too much of my time to finally drill down the methodology:

Forum > Forums >  Manage Groups And Forums > "FORUM NAME" > Forum Permissions button

From here I needed to confirm Current permission set for forum "FORUM NAME" then bounce over to:

Forum > Permissions > Manage Permissions Sets >

How about a link/button to Manage Permissions Set from Manage Groups And Forums?

Anyways, I have other issues

#1 - The user I mentioned posted 2 topics. I can see a notification at the top of the forum that reads "Unread: 2." However after accessing these two topics the notification persist. I logged out thinking it was a caching issue but the notification remains.

#2 - Wanted to see a change log/update list for the newest version of SP before updating however when I click on the link from the WP dashboard > WordPress Updates I am sent to a page that reads, "An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums."

Did not have this issue with any other plugin that showed an available update.

sorry, not following the new link/button you want... can you elaborate?

#2 was fixed in 5.4.1...  so you wont see it anymore...

sorry, where do you see a notification "Unread: 2"???  we do not have such a notification...  do mean the button in the admin bar?

Pictures are worth a thousand words.

Regarding my suggestion where to add a link/button to Manage Permissions Set from Manage Groups And Forums:

Regarding the persistent "Unread" notification - first thing you see in the forum header:

Regarding the failure to retrieve a Simple Press update details from the WP dashboard:

There does not appear to be a way to format this post using HTML so forgive the mess.

ah so yes, like I was asking..  not a notification per se as that means something different in sp... but the button if you are using the admin bar plugin...

have you clicked on the unread button?  and then marked the those two as approved and closed? should clear it for you... note, not normally required if you visit and reply...  but maybe something got off...

re last image, as I said fixed in 5.4.1.... of course, you wont see it fixed until the next upgrade is available...

guess I am not sure how a button there is any more efficient than the one already in the accordion menu...  and if you are viewing forum permissions and not concerned about editing the sets, it might even be confusing - since it will take you away to another panel... but we can chat about it...

The Unread is not a clickable button, just seems to appear that way but it's a flat notification - nothing to click.

Okay I need to upgrade in order to see what was upgraded. Hmmm...

I did click the "View" button some time ago with no change to the notification. Seems odd and clunky but to change the notification to "0" I had to click one of the 3 "Mark This Post as Read.." buttons for each topic. There has to be some automatic way OR is there a mechanism to disable this notification altogether?

click on view?  I suggested then clicking on mark post as read and closed after that...  would have cleared the count...  yes, your method empties the postbag too...

disable the notification?  as I said, its part of the admin bar plugin... if you dont want that, disable the sp admin bar plugin...
