Is there any way of preventing the spambots from posting on forums...I think that simplepress gives a math captcha challeneg to a user when he posts a link in a forum post. Is there any way to make that Math captcha mandatory for all forum posts..

Secondly, is there any way to mass delete forum posts ?

There is a math challenge option for saving a post (not links in a post) that can be turned on in the permissions for any or all permission sets you may be using.

As to mass delete forum posts then the answer would be no if you mean deleting certain posts from within a single topic. If you actually mean deleting whole topics then you need the 'Prune Database' SP plugin.

Hi Andy,

Just activated the Math Challenge option. Hopefully this should prevent the bots from posting on forums.

Regarding deleting topics,  I want to delete whole topics created by bots..I installed the Prune Database plugin but seems like it deletes ALL posts before a particular date.. This means that it will delete the useful posts too. Isn't there anyway to delete the topics posted in say the last 5 days only or like in phpbb do i have the option of selecting topics and then using "Delete All" option ?

the prune database plugin will let you do what you want...

on its first page, you can choose to narrow down the date...  but if you want to see all then just leave it to current date...  then you can narrow it down by forum..  when you select filter topics, you will be shown a list of topics that meet the criteria... then you can select which topics you want to mass deleted... any keep any that you want...
