Support Forum
Here is a link to my Forum I have two destinations complete and have an additional 29 to add. What I'm looking for is ideas to compress these into something more manageable and compact the site.
Thanks for your help!!

I don't really know what to recommend. That's an awful lot of forums!
I think @mr-papa was right when he suggested breaking it down into smaller groupings so your top level forums are the big areas then a layer of sub-forums breaking each area into smaller groupings with sub-forums under that for the actual places.
It's always a good idea, when you want to cover so many specific items, to work these things out on paper first as well...

correct... I had suggested a top level set of groups that was more narrow than Mexico.. ie continents... then each initial forum within continents group could be regions within the continent (if needed)... then each subforum within the main forum would be the resorts... you could add as many region drill downs as needed...

Thank you both for the replies. I appreciate the fast response!! I'm still thinking about how to take care of it and agree that a pen & paper might come in handy. Mr. Papa, I thought this how I set this up. BTW, all of the resorts are located in North America. Where did I go wrong with your recommendations?
you may not have... you didnt mention before that all were in north america... 🙂
and a lot of it comes down to personal desire or design... I think Andy was just saying (and I might agree) that there might be too many subforums under Riviera Maya... It can be hard to find them... hence the suggestion of possibly breaking into further regions...
So guessing you are thinking like Canada, USA and Mexico and Central America (if applicable) as the groups? good start... maybe consider breaking down the USA into regions if lots (ie western, northern, southern, etc)...
and btw, there may be nothing wrong with what you have... will your users be looking for specific resorts or doing general searches? may drive how you break them up... do you find it easy to find what you are looking for in the Riviera Maya? if not, can the region be further subdivided? if you go to riviera maya forum, you then get a long listing of forums... folks will have to do lots of scrolling to see the whole list...
also, might play with displaying the subforums one per line (stacked) instead of just comma list....
but again, most of this comes down to personal preference...

Thanks for the information Mr. Papa. I have one question regarding this forum. A bit more information about this forum: Actually all of the resorts are in Mexico with about 12 different locations and the remainder are located on various Caribbean Islands.
You mentioned to see how it looked having the subforums stacked (one per line) rather than the way I have it now. I have searched and read the codex and either missed it or did not understand on how to change it. Can you please point me in the correct direction?
looks like unified blue to me...
so you will need to make a small edit to your theme... and first step is to create your own child theme and then edit it...
from the unified theme you are using, copy the spGroupView.php file over to your child theme templates folder... and then edit the file.. find this line around line 150
sp_ForumIndexSubForums('unreadIcon=sp_SubForumUnreadIcon.png', __sp('Sub-Forums'), __sp('Browse topics in %NAME%'));
and change it to:
sp_ForumIndexSubForums('unreadIcon=sp_SubForumUnreadIcon.png&stack=1', __sp('Sub-Forums'), __sp('Browse topics in %NAME%'));
if you copy, be sure to use the raw code button... the only change is the &stack=1... you may also want to make a similar change a few lines earlier for the mobile version...

did you try the stacked display? again, personal preference which one you like...
