Well, it's official, we're migrating tonight from vBulletin to Simple:Press and so now the process begins of making our site look as bad-a** as possible.
First up is removing the Forum Group icons so that the Forum Group title line will be as thin and streamlined as possible. Any tips for doing this or is it a matter of modfying code?

just remove the template tag that displays them...
sp is theme based with template tags/functions like a wp theme... so you can control what is displayed, what is not and where (within reason or course)...
I think you are talking about group view and wanting to remove the group icons, right?
so in your sp theme, template file spGroupView.php... the group icon is display with this:
sp_GroupHeaderIcon('tagClass=spHeaderIcon spLeft');
just remove... you can of course upload your own custom icon of whatever size you want...
as always, we strongly recommend you make your own theme or a child theme instead of editing ours to keep from losing changes should you update our themes...
