Support Forum
Hey all,
So it seems like there must be a way to do this... but I can't seem to find what it is. I'm starting a writing forum that will have an adult discussion section. I really don't want the twelve year olds in there. Obviously, there's no practical way to keep members from lying about their ages (I know a LOT of people who did this in exactly the same situation when they were underage), but I need a way to at least restrict the problem.
Is there a way to set permissions for a user group so that they can either see or NOT see a specific forum (but access to all the rest of the forums is the same)? I'm looking at "add new permission set", but I don't see an option to add viewing/replying/etc to ONE specific Forum A (while everyone else can only view/reply/etc Forum B-Z.) The exact scenario would be:
Members Age 0-17: Access to Forums B-Z Only.
Members Age 18+: Access to Forums B-Z, PLUS Forum A.
Is there a way to do this, and if so, how?
Thanks!
Anise
Hey Anise,
Should be fairly straight forward as long as you have anyone under age placed in a specific group and permission sets in place.
If you go to your admin page and then Forum > Forums, find the forum (sub-forum, or entire group) that you want to block to under age members and click on 'Add Permission'.
You can then pick something like:
'Select Usergroup : Underage'
and then
'Select Permission Set : No Access'
Not sure if you have had a look at the Codex, but will add the links just in case

Hope this helps,
thanks for update.. we will be here if needed..
