I think we can safely ignore the warning for now and return to that later when we have the actual problem resolved.

It sounds like a fairly typical case of conflicting javascripts at the moment and is probably explained by this codex article: http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/

if you can check for this we can usually help sort it out fairly easily if this is the problem. If not then a link to your forum would be useful to have.

Hello. I am having the same issue. Used SP on a different site and was able to get it working properly. Now, on my new site, everything works fine. Except, when I go to add my first topic, nothing happens.

The only difference is the membership plugin I'm using.

Unfortunately, I'm not skilled enough to understand how to spot problems in codes and scripts. I will send a pm with access to my site if this helps.

Josh: The problem is probably this:

<script type='text/javascript' src='http://globatext.net/wp-content/plugins/membersonic/js/jquery-ui-1.7.3.custom.min.js?ver=3.4.2'></script>

where the jQuery Ui core library is being loaded from the WP theme instead of from the WP script library. This is bad practice. It also means that a second, correct copy of the library is also being loaded.

The worry comes in that word 'custom' that has been added to the file name which suggests the theme author may have added other code into the file but it should be easy to find that out if we fix this up and run things.

Somewhere you will find a line of code that either looks a little like the above or uses a function called wp_enqueue_script() which will also load this script. Normally this would be in the themes functions.php file or - on older, badly written themes, in the header.php but I can not see it in either of these files on your site.

If you can't locate it then you may have to ask the theme author

Thanks again for your reply. The only question of have about that is the fact that I successfully installed SP on another website less than a week ago using the exact same theme. And everything there works as intended.

Why would it work on that install and not this one? Literally the only difference is the membership plugin.

I appreciate your quick response and happy to try rooting around the code. Just want to make sure we are looking in the right place ya know?

afraid I did not get the PM so cannot help as easily...

but looking at the file Andy referenced, its a personal copy of jquery ui...  it is different than the version wp loads... the wp version is also more new or more recent...

cannot really comment as to other site, but the first place we usually look (and have success) is when a plugin or theme loads their own version of js that wp loads... recipe for a conflict...

I found where the problem was. When we initially uploaded the forum it worked well on the basic and I upgraded to gold but then we had a problem with the plugins when I used your uploader.

It caused a major error way above my IT skills so my web guy uninstalled the plugin and still had issues so we uninstalled the forum and reinstalled the the basic upgraded again to gold but downloaded the plugins using ftp all went fine until the topic issue started and we were stumped.

I eventually found in integration/page and permalink/wp forum pages. The forum had not been linked to the WP page it was showing security as the page with a warning above clicked on the drop down list picked Forum from WP pages problem sorted topic posting works perfectly

Gentlemen,

After doing a rudimentary test, I've determined that the cause of this conflict is in the Membership plugin I'm using (Membersonic). I've contacted their support to try and resolve the issue. In the mean time, can you point me 'step-by-step' to the place where I can find the coding issue and how to possibly fix it on my own? Or if it's even possible at all?

Thanks.

what do you think the coding issue is????  or do you mean in the membership plugin?

you will have to search the files for that file being loaded shown in post #4....  then we can help correct it...
