so yeah, the wp theme is setting a z-index of 50 which is higher than our dialog, so it appears underneath...

on forum - themes - custom css, please try adding:

.ui-dialog {z-index: 100 !important;}

and see if that helps...

can you point me to a topic that opens too big??  I havent found any yet that dont fit...  what resolution do you run at?

PS - since this post jumped to new page, please be sure to read the questions on previous post as well...

ok, trying the CSS now.

The link in the PM is to a specific post. When you open the post there are several dummy image thumbnails inside it.  Click on each of them; you will see the smaller ones work fine - there is an X that lets you close them.  The larger ones such as the 1024 wide one pop up but the user sees no way to get rid of the image.

I do see that you can hit escape, but my users aren't very technical and that is not a common thing they are used to doing on websites.  To them, it is a bug or glitch.

I'm not familiar with this z-index stuff, but curious why we see the problem even when different themes are in use.  I am testing other themes just to see the difference, even though I don't have alot of flexibility to change themes at this point in our launch.  I can make some changes if needed, once I understand what they are.

Let me add the CSS, and see how this does.

I'll review the previous posts but not aware of any questions I missed answering.

Thanks again for your help, esp. given this is a weekend. I'm at a convention showing the site to a few associates and appreciate the efforts being made to troubleshoot.

The CSS does have an effect; the menu bar no longer shows over the expanded image when you scroll. However, the X still seems hidden behind the edges of the site for any image 1024 wide or greater.  You can scroll the image, but you can never scroll enough to reveal the X.

Here is the link to a specific message with this problem; you will need to log in with the credentials I PM'ed to you.

all those images open smaller than viewable for me... take up less viewing area than the site...  even the 3000px image... and the X all work...  and my screen resolution is much less than 3000...

did you check that one option I mentioned??

ok, there was a difference in what you see when you log in due to the fact the the membership level I gave you doesn't display the wordpress admin bar across the top.

The expanded images border where the X is located is falling behind that border.  I added the additional roles that would cause you to get this border if you were to log back in.

When you visited the site, since the admin bar was missing, the X can be seen even in the larger images.  I forgot that the role I gave you didn't represent exactly what normal users will see.

I'm going to review the prior messages and see what Qs/options I missed and will attempt those as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Kelly

Ok, you asked:

what are you file uploads settings on forum – options – content settings? do you have the option to constrain popup turned on?

The settings were:

Thumbnail width of images in posts (Minimum 100px): 100
Default image style:

left

This of course results in thumbnails, and the popups that are big enough where the top of the image is behind the WP admin bar have their X hidden/inaccessible.

SOLUTION/WORKAROUND:

I've unchecked these boxes, and I am getting a better result for my purposes because the images go into the post at full size, constrained/scaled for the forum width. As a result, there isn't a need to click on a thumbnail & enlarge, so there is nothing to conflict with the Admin Bar.

Whew, long way around to get to this point.  Sorry this has been so much effort and thanks for all of the work on it!
