So I just got the importer to run on my WP 3.5.1 box, migrating phpBB 3.0 to SP 5.2.7. The importer ran for awhile, without ANY errors and displayed this at the end:
User/Member Data Created for Members 19001 - 19100
Members Post Counts Updated
IMPORTED:
19061 Users
0 Groups
0 Forums
0 Topics
0 Posts
Um, Dude, where are my posts?! And forums and...
Something isn't right, but the lack of errors and any other data is discouraging. What happened and how can I fix it without duplicating the 19000 users I already have?

As an experiment, I repeated the import again. I got the exact same result both times--19K users, no groups, posts or topics at all.
Again, the last few lines of the import:

sorry, SP 5.2.7??? we dont have such a version... current is 5.2.6 with 5.3 coming any day when wp releases 3.6...
we have had fair number of users use the phpbb importer with no issues, so this is surprising...
was the utf8 option on or off?
did you also check the error log?
Andy should be by this afternoon, he wrote the importer and may be able to offer more insight..

Sorry, yes, SP 5.2.6, build 8677 (that's where the 7 got in)
UTF-8 was OFF.
I found one error log on the /public_html, but it was last modified 6 days ago, so nothing there.
I did not find an error_log under your plugin's main folder or the sp-import folder, so not sure where else to check on that one.

There is an error log for the forum within the Toolbox section of the admin but your site php error log will be more extensive - or at least should be.
I am not familiar with the bbPress version numbers but can you confirm that you are using the correct bbPress importer script? There are two - one for bbPress as plugin and one for bbPress in it's older incarnation as a separate site...

Whoops! Sorry - I misread that one!
Do you know how to - and are you able to look - at your database tables at all?
If so could you take a look at the phpBB data - find the 'forums' table - the 'parent_id' column - and tell me if any entries in that column are NOT equal to zero?

Sure.
I have 4 entries in phpbb_forums (forum IDs 3-6), but all have a parent ID of 0.
FYI: The Error Log section under Toolbox->Error Log is empty (shows "There are no error log entries")

That's the problem. Every phpBB database I have seen has a non-zero number - not that I know why for certain.
We could try changing the rules in your case to see what happens but it's a bit of a shot in the dark. But if you want to try it I can tell you what to change if you don't mind making a small edit to a code file.
