shouldnt matter... windows server at least understand both types of slashes...
and the key is that you said all your other storage locations work on the is shared server... so this code is how they do it... frankly surprised they would work given the \\ start of network shares... and yes, first time anyone has brought this up...
so you are able to upload ranks, smileys or avatars to the network share? or any of the other storage locations?? I know you said they looked fine... just they generate the path the same way...
will have to dig in a bit further and see if I missed something last night...

Yep everything else works fine, I've been changing the default avatars on the shared storage, which is then reflected in the forums. So SP is definitely able to use the shared storage, just seems really really odd that it's not working for this file. Please let me know if I can provide any further information to assist with this.

so the entire wp install is on the shared storage?
well, at this point, I really need a closer look and throw out some debug stuff... Is there any chance of getting ftp access to the server so I can try some code modifications and see what is up?
