There were no changes in 5.1.3 to that area of code. Has something else changed as well? Theme or WP plugin updates? New plugin added? It sounds like a javascript conflict which would suggest something new has arrived on the scene.

Curious. The 'wp-polls' plugin should cohabitate just fine. We have many users who have both. And - it is probably a simple fix as well.
If you ONLY want polls in your forum then we do offer a 'polls' plugin. But of you want them in your blog as well then wp-polls is what I would normally recommend,
If you want to reactivate it and give me a link to your forum page I can try and determine what the conflict is...

Ah. Not the same one I suppose. Would still probably be simple to fix although that is a guarded 'probably'.

I had the exact same problem and thanks to your discovery, I've also managed to fix my forum as well.

In my case, I had installed a polls plugin call BP Polls on my WP multi-site which has BuddyPress also installed. Once I disabled the polls plugin, I was able to post replies and new topics again.

So it seems that (any) polls plugin on the main WP site appears to conflict with something on the forum, rendering it from working.

Is there a fix for this?

I have the Simple Press forum plugin for Polls as well, but would also like to have a polls function on my main WP site.

not true...  simple press coexists with several other wp polls plugins, such as wp polls (the most downloaded polls plugin)...

like a js conflict between them... see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/

but would need link to site with the other plugin active to check for obvious conflicts...
