Hi, I was testing out the Simple Press version 5 and I am VERY impressed. I had looked at simple press before (a year or so ago) and it was ok but rather clunky and looked a bit unappealing and was slow at times. I've been keeping an eye on it and wow it has come a long way. There aren't many forum options out there with full integration with wordpress and bbpress looks abandoned. I can see that when version 5 gets officially launched, it will be a huge splash! Good work!!!
One suggestion I would make is for you to offer Disqus as a profile integration option. http://www.disqus.com it is a commenting plugin that A LOT of people use and they won't want to give that up. It would be nice to have the commenting profiles be linked to the forum profiles so that the avatars will be pulled in properly and everything matches. Right now when you use Disqus for comments and simple press forum, the user has to maintain like 2 profiles, sets of avatars, etc. and it's not a nice experience. Do you know if this type of integration is possible?
its more than likely possible if disqus offers an api... certainly should be able to use our api to integrate together... but it would require someone writing a plugin for sp to close the integration...

OK thanks for the quick reply. Here are some resources. Looks well documented. I hope someone sees this post and wants to make a plugin. There are MANY sites using Disqus and this would be wonderful to have as an option!

sounds possible... hopefully once 5.0 releases, we will getting a bunch of user contributed plugins...

What you need is SSO:

i warn you, this is a huge pain in the ass and it's not easy. I hired this guy to do it. He's the best.

I knew it! I tried this solution a couple of days ago but it wasn't easy. Now I'm looking for someone who knows how to deal with SSO. The only thing that I figured out was how to get the API's secret and public keys, but to implement it correctly seems way more complex than that. Disqus support team is very quick to answer though.
Anyway, it's good to know that SSO works.
Thanks!
