Support Forum
Hi,
I upgraded to the new forum and everything seemed to work perfectly. I have checked the forum and codex and can't find reference to this issue.
We are experiencing an intermitant issue where the links on our site menus for the forum, and when typing in the URL directly they are automatically changing the link and not directing to the forum pages.
The forum is running under a page named ' Discuss' but intermitently , there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, the link is changing to /blog/2011/11/25/community-forum/ after a few minutes it fixes itself and starts working again.
When the link changes we get our 'Are you logged in as you cannot access this page message' that we have set up using the membership plugin from wpmudev.
Because the problem occurs randomly I can't recreate it to analyze what is causing it. Am I missing something obvoius?
Thanks for any help.
I think I have discovered the problem. Becuase the problem was intermitent I thought it must be when a plugin or system is updating something.
We run WP Super Cache plugin to help speed the site up and although I had told it to ignore the /discuss/ page and all within, when it was recaching the pages it seemed to temporarily break the link. I have turned the plugin off and will wait to see if it happens again. If not I will contact the WP Super Cache forum to see if anyone can help.
Does anyone else use the WP Super Cache plugin and know a way to stop this happening?
we have not had other reports of this with wp super cache... we have a whole bunch of users that use wp super cache with sp, though as you note you have to tell it to ignore the wp page the forum is on... and if its ignoring the forum page, not sure how it would interfere...

Our forum behaves in much the same manner. It likes to strip out "forum" from the URL esp. when navigating straight to a topic from the main forum. Once the topic is loaded though, (via the sub-forum page) the issue seems to be resolved. We recently added the caching plug-in Quick Cache, but this problem has been troubling us since we built out the forum more than a month ago. I'll try adding the forum to the do not cache list to see if that makes a difference.
