I hate to whine about small matters, but these get to me...trying to tweak small items, like my signature and avatar...can't get these to play nice....signature shows:

not the image, just the code...
Avatar...after several attempts to upload an image file, after getting refused over and over (telling me too big. but it wasn't) finally got it to upload....now how do I set it as the avatar (it shows only the gravatar avatar, nowhere to switch them out...) thanks

On the signature front well - you can see mine below which has an image bought in in exactly the same way. Can I assume that you have used the full html image tag (unlike your pasted fragment)? And you have used html and not bbCode?
I would add that in the next update to SP the profile signature editing will support the tinyMCE editor to make this easier which has not been possible up until now.
As to the avatar - if it repeatedly said it was too big then I assume you then changed it in some way for it to work - i.e., running the same code over and over again produces the same result. So how big was the image file and what is the maximum avatar file size setting in your avatar options? And it is in the avatar setup options that you dictate the priority so I assume your first priority is currently Gravatar with Uploaded image being further down the tree. Changing that to put Uploaded at the top should sort that issue.

I brought it in via the signature image upload...I think a piece of code got missed, cuz I just went in and reloaded and its fine now...thanks.....

As it says on that image to the left - priority is gravatars and then uploaded. As I said before - you need to change that - swap them around - avatars admin panel under profiles.
