RE: Mr Papa

Actually, my forum site is only used as a forum. Blog posts are done on a separate website. Not sure if it will help but when users post images from their desktops, they look fine.

I'm open to searching for and activating a mobile responsive WordPress theme if you think that will fix the problem.

Separate website? Why? Well, not really important...

Let us know what you find... Most themes these days are responsive...

Yea, back in 2012, I gave up battling the endless issues I was having with page load times and other problems associated with having both the blog and forum on the same site so I separated them. In terms of user experience, things have improved considerably.

I'm gonna look into some responsive themes. I'm hoping that will fix the mobile image upload issue I'm having. I'll circle back.

I found a responsive theme that fixed my photo upload issue. Please have a look and tell me what you think. 🙂

You should consider using one of our own responsive themes as well which would give a much better UI on mobiles. You can even simply use a theme on mobile while keeping your current theme on the desktop.

Take a look at our website here on a mobile as an example of just one of our responsive themes - in this case 'Reboot'.

(If you take a look at https://simple-press.com/store/themes/ - our Standard and premium themes are all mobile ready)

RE: Yellow Swordfish

I'll have a look into this. Can I assume then that the Default SP theme isn't responsive by design?

Also, while the photo uploads from a mobile device aren't distorting the published photo anymore, is there a way to resize the photo in a pre-published post?

Correct. The old Default theme is not responsive. Gosh there was hardly a smartphone when that theme was created 🙂 So not so much by design; - more that it pre-dates things!

We do not offer image manipulation software - seems out of the scope of a forum - but these images are stored on you server so you have access to them if you wish to massage them in any way.

Excellent! Another question if you don't mind and thanks for the support on this.

Of the two mobile SP themes, Reboot and Unified, which is the most ideal for mobile users, or are they both about equal?

The description for the Unified theme states that it has a special emphasis on mobile usage but you indicated that this here support forum uses Reboot. I figured I'd at least ask before I decide which to purchase.

It really is very subjective of course but I would say reboot is the newer and the more popular download of the two...

I've added Reboot, which really improves the mobile UI; I love it.

I discovered a bug - my Add Reply and Add Topic buttons on desktop are non-responsive. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, I noticed that forum rank badges on mobile are only displayed for admins. I have them setup for all users on the forum and they show up on desktop just fine. Do I need to make some kind of adjustment for them to show up on mobile?

EDIT: I've created a new topic for the questions posed in this post. Link below:
