I tried to put a post in today which my client wanted to have some italics in the topic name/title, but SP just stripped out the tag when I posted it.  Is there no way to do this?

Not - I am afraid - in any of the titles.

I kind of figured, but wanted to make sure.  Thanks!

I was thinking about this after I posted the admittedly somewhat dismissive reply I wrote.

The problem comes down to what the title tag has to do and where it is used. For example, the topic slug is evolved from the title. Could we allow HTML tags? Well yes - maybe some basic formatting like bold, italic etc., But then we would need a whole special set of routines to ensure that only a small subset of specific tags were used. So that they could be stripped when needed - like - for example - creating that topic slug! So I think it was the required infrastructure and rules around this that doomed titles to be HTML clean.
