Hello everybody

This is my problem :

my old forum phpbb3 was on my other FTP

i imported the bdd from phpmyadmin, and then imported again in SP

but there is lot of spécial caracters like "compétitian " instead of "compétition"

how can i change that?

the other problem is for the short code like [img]

in phpbb3 the image is here, but with SP i just see the code, not the image.

How can i change that?

Sorry for my poor english, i'm french

thx for your help

Regarding the first issue then it is always best to ensure that the source and target databases have the same encoding defined - with utf-8 being the easiest to work with.

There are two WP Codex articles on this worth reading: http://codex.wordpress.org/Con.....acter_Sets and http://codex.wordpress.org/Use.....Conversion - if needed I do have a script I can supply that extends that example script to the SP tables but as always that would be supplied without guarantee or support...

On the second issue then on some phpBB installations - and I honestly do not know why they do this - phpBB adds non-standard bbCode data into the bbCode tags. I think this points to an attachment record. Our bbCode parser is unable to identify these non-standard tags and therefore unable to convert them. But as stated in the importer help - we are also unable to import attachments themselves.

If anyone out there with a good knowledge of phpBB would like to help us tackle these issues then we would welcome their assistance.

My charset on all database are defined to UTF8

If you have a script to change all the SP tables in correct caracter, i'd like to try this, my forum is just in private test at hour.

Maybe, a script for change the non-standard bbCode in correct bbCode would be possible no?

So why not start again and this time turn on the utf-8 option on the importer form? Or - of you turned it on before, leave it off this time?

As I said, we are unable to parse the bbCode tags if they have embedded and specifc/unique phpBB codes in them.

It should be on the form where you put in all the database attributes...
I take it you are using the V5 version - yes?

Should be under the password options at the bottom. If you are not seeing this then I am concerned that you are not using the right importer. Did you download it from our V5 download page?
