the question was are you using v4 or v5??  both have been available on this website... only v5 has the ability to set the UTF-8...

please make sure using the latest from:  https://simple-press.com/download/

well, in the latest 5.0, after selecting phpbb as the importer type, you will see a screen like below with the utf option circled...  if you dont see that, you might not have the latest v5 version...

When i need your importer v5 cause the version upload here has no utf8 options
