Ok so i have some trouble getting the janrain/rpx to work correctly. After a user login with rpx it redirect back to a 500 server error. I installed the janrain plugin in wordpress and disabled the option in forum admin panel to check if it was a server error.

With the "normal" janrain plugin user can login and register however it gives the error that "no valid email account" on twitter accounts.

So im not sure where to look for errors here, with SPF and rpx enabled it just go to a blank page and gives a 500 error.

To my knowledge the RPX login writes and register to the database? If so where are the data stored?

Thinking it might be some database error or something.

The string it use to redirect is http://www.example.com/page?rpx_response=1&goback=redirectadress.com

simple press rpx has issues if the wp rpx plugin is installed... or I should say they both have issues...

have you done an svn up today??  I committed an rpx fix on Sunday evening that may account for you server error...

we had to add special code to handle the twitter case, guessing the wp rpx plugin did not do that...  there is no special rpx data written to the database..  when you login the first time, a wp account is created for you if one does not exist...

Well as i said i never tried them both at the same time. I did a wordpress auto update from the plugin menu on Monday, if that one was included into that update it didnt make any difference. I run the nightly build from start and nowadays use the wp update for the plugin.

If a account is created in wp what about the user password? (trying to figure this out :D) If the user is created with rpx how does he login without RPX? Is a password mailed to the user or is it the same he has on the selected login meathod on rpx?

And can i update with the svn on my already nightly build? atm im on 7077

they log in with their 3rd party credentials...  interesting question on what their password is...  I believe it gets assigned a random password since the assumption is they log in with their 3rd party credentials...

no, a password is not emailed as the account is simply created...  if they no longer choose to use the 3rd party login stuff, they can always choose to use the lost password option...

I guess we could consider forcing an email of the password, but to me, that would be confusing... here they just logged in with their 3rd party credentials and they get an email with different credentials?

Yeah agree on that, would just be confusing. The user gets a rpx_ randomnumerbsletters@applicationnameONrpxserver.com when they use twitter . at least when i tried yesterday and failed on janrain, when i tried janrain complain that the user didnt have any email (might be a bug on janrain) and it seems  like google and facebook worked fine.

Would be better it the user register with a real email, not sure how this is handled if the user request a password. Might just have gone bad with that user i tried.

My opinion is that if they login with rpx the user is created and a password and username is email as a supplement. Might have to inform that this will happend if they login, don't know the privacy though.

the biggest problem is that twitter does not send the email address... and since the wp rpx plugin was released, wp made core code changes to require an email address... since twitter does not pass an email address, that is more than likely why the wp rpx plugin is failing now... when wp made the core change, we had to update our rpx stuff to 'manufacture' and email address...
