js error, for subset of users, for the reply button

We're getting a javascript null void error from a subset of users with older computers - they press the reply button and nothing occurs.

(This is unrelated to our upgrading to the latest version - it was happening before then too.)

Firefox developer tools shows no js errors for me, but there are some css errors.

CSS issues when I load a topic page http://www.elsaelsa.com/forum/.....n-reviews/ :

[see file (was getting an error if I included the more than 10 links in this post)]

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31903375/errors.txt

CSS issues when I push the reply button:

Unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate this error myself. I have asked one of the users who is having the issue if she would schedule a time for me to change the WP theme to twentyeleven to see if the problem with the reply button is still there then.

I've already asked the folks with the js error to upgrade to the latest version of java, turn off ad blockers, etc.

Any help will be appreciated - thanks.

javascript:void(null) is NOT an error... see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....wser-link/

but if some buttons are not working still implies js conflicts...  see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....-conflict/

is it browser specific? if so, which one..

those css 'errors' - more warnings are primarily coming from your wp theme and other plugins... but wont affect js running...

the css displays fine for me- or appears to... what should I be looking for?  again, dont worry about those css notices...

worth adding you do have a plugin that is running jquery ui block... it has issues with wp jquery ui in 3.6... so hopefully, the plugin has updated... its woo commerce so at least an active one...

It is occurring for XP users. One user fixed the problem by upgrading to the current version of Windows. She was having the js issue with the reply button both in IE and FF.

We've updated the woo commerce plugin but that hasn't helped the js issue. Any other ideas?

Thanks

not really.. unfortunately a good number of users still are stuck on XP...  sad, but true...  and none have reported such an issue prior to this...  so dont think its a general issue to XP...

still not sure what error you are getting either...  you should a bunch of css warnings in the previous attachments which seem gone now...

Thanks - it's a javascript null void message for the reply button. (for a small subset of XP users)

Any idea of whom we could hire to fix this for us?

Thanks

I must repeat - see post #2 - javascript:void(null) is NOT an error. It is exactly what you should see whether the button is working or not.

I can't really suggest anyone to fox something without knowing what it is that needs to be fixed.

But I do have one extra question. These users may be using what is now an ancient operating system but are they using the most up to date and recent browser they can - because in many ways this is more important than the OS. So - what browsers and versions are being used?

Thanks - Everything works but the reply button, which did nothing when pushed.

for one user: IE8 on XP and also FF but I don't know which version of FF.

Another user: it was IE8 and XP.

Both upgraded to latest Java versions & didn't help.

Neither WordPress or Simple:Press make use of Java. It's confusing, but Java and JavaScript are actually two completely different things and languages. Actually it is annoying as well!

Would you call the user who also uses Firefox competent in terms of being able to install an FF extension and run a test or two? Actually - if it is an up to date version of Firefox it may not need the extension. I am just totally unsure what versions of Firefox will run properly under Windows XP.
