I just started to use this forum on my site and so far like it very much!  One thing that I have noticed right off the bat is that the last post time is wrong.  It's showing something like "-16294 seconds ago".  All my timezone settings are correct.  What gives?

please verify your timezone settings by posting the wp settings timezone, your actual server timezone and your personal timezone...

we have only had one other person with similar issue so need more details...

Well that didn't work.  The wordpress one is very wrong.  I'll try again.

Timezone Detroit UTC time is 2012-01-11 4:20:20 Local time is 2012-01-10 23:20:20

Also, the forum isn't showing the crazy negative seconds, but is still showing wrong.  For instance a post I made about 4 hours ago says "29 minutes ago".

OK I removed the 'garbage' post - that was easiest. So let's start again.

The important setting here is the WP setting on the General Settings admin panel. That dictates the timestamp given to a blog post AND a forum post. The personal timezone setting in the forum profile simply then adds/subtracts hours for display purposes only which makes it possible for any user to see a timestamp formatted to their own zone.

So far we have not actually seen any errors in this - the user Steve referred to did, in fact, have their settings wrong.

So what did you mean by 'The WordPress one is very wrong'?

Go to a recent topic page - i.e., forum posts. Are the date/times being shown there - by default in standard format - correct? If they are not then you have one of these settings wrong. And remember, if you need to change the WP base timezone setting then this is not going to effect old posts but only new ones after the change.

Okay, let's try this again...

WP Settings - General: Timezone Detroit UTC time is

2012-01-12 3:47:32

 Local time is

2012-01-11 22:47:32

SP Settings - Date/Time Formatting Server timezone set to: America/Detroit

SP User Settings (mine) - Your Timezone: America/Detroit Local Time: January 11, 2012 10:49 pm

As you can see everything is set for the exact same timezone.

I just created a "test" post and even though I just now created it, it says "Last Post: admin Test post -17926 seconds ago".

Oh, and what I meant by "The WordPress one is very wrong" was just referring to the previous post where I tried to copy/paste.

No, I have not seen that post.  And no, I do not have that plugin installed.

I did add the line "tagClass=spInRowPostLink&nicedate=0&date=1&time=1&stackdate=1" as suggested and now when I create a post and view the main forum level, it says "Last Post: admin Test post 2 January 12, 2012 4:55 pm" which is nice.  But when I go into that forum, it still says "Last Post: admin -17884 seconds ago".

if you want to change the forum view as well then you will need to look in the spForumView template for the first and last post functions. You should be able to identify those easily enough, You can use the same arguments.

We are pretty sure now that this will be down to a plugin that is resetting the base php timezone. The detective work will continue...

I don't know why I didn't think of looking there!

However, I changed the line just like the previous one but it does not show the same.  I still get the crazy negative seconds in that view.

Any other suggestions?  I really, really appreciate the help!!!
