Support Forum
Hi, this is a new install of Simple Press. I looked at the demo and other sites and they all have lines and boxes which are important to provide some structure on the page. I have a screenshot of my install and the lines and boxes are completely missing.
I switched to some other themes and also uninstalled some regular WP plugins, and I uninstalled all Simple Press plugins, but none of that affected this issue.
Any ideas?

It looks to me that it is not reading the theme's overlay file.
Try going to the forum admin > Themes and changing the current overlay to something else and see if it changes.
If not then got to forum admin and check to see if combining CSS is turned on. Try turning it off.
If still no help try downloading the CSS-Only theme from the site here, install it and see if that works.
The first two suggestions had no effect, but the CSS only theme worked, and it looks great. Fortunately, I don't need the various color options right now (since CSS only theme has apparently only one color unless I code it myself), but it would have been nice to have the option to use the other themes. At this point, I am locked into using only one theme and its stock color for eternity on this site if the problem is not actually discovered. It would still be nice to find out why this happened, although I do appreciate the work-around. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback and testing. Glad you got it working with the CSS-ONLY theme.
The problem has something to do with the way the theme utilizes php files and your host's setup configuration.
I personally don't know why some hosts can't work with php files like that but Mr. Papa or Yellow Swordfish may have some answers tomorrow or the next day and will get back to you.
I was about to answer this post last night when I had a plumbing emergency - water seeping through the kitchen ceiling no less - so I am sorry to say I got a bit distracted! But I had got as far as loading up your forum page and taking a look at the source being created.
I may be wrong but I rather thought I saw no query variable being passed for the colour overlay which would explain the lack of the overlay but not why it was missing. Brandon was right up to a point but it is not that you can not load the php files as css - otherwise you would not have seen the base 'default' style file.
Now I may be wrong and I might have just mis-read what I saw oh so briefly before my wife felt an unexplained drop of cold water slide down her neck - but I think the query variable denoting the overlay file might have been stripped from the generated html. And if this was so then the actual question is what is doing it? Something on your server but I do not know what. And the only way to confirm if I am right - is to go back to the default theme temporarily so I can double check.
