I am translating the admin core (version 5.2) into danish as a validator.

Now some lines disapperared completely?

Danish-1.jpgEnglish-1.jpg

Left you see the translated menu when the danish mo-file is loaded.

But the lines "Abonnementer...." and their english counterparts starting with "Subscrib...." completely disappeared from what is shown on Glotpress.

Trying to figure out what happened, i deleted the danish mo-file. The result is seen on the right. The 4 lines with "Abonn..." are unchanged.

I even tried to look at the german admin-file at Glotpress. The same lines are completely away from the file.

Please help me out

Sincerely

Tyge Fogh

Are you just saying you can not find those text strings? These are a part of the Subscriptions plugin. Many plugins can add Admin text strings.

Looking into it: Yes, you are perfectly right. Problem solved. Thank you.

As a matter of fact I knew textstrings come from different sources. Just didnt look deeply enough. (=Didnt control enough plugin languagefiles).

Actually it is quite bothersome the localization are split up in so many files. It might be easy for the programmer, but not very friendly for me as a user and a validator.

1. I have to download and upload at least 3 files and maybe 10-20 more depending on how many plugins i use to get a full localization

2. I have to look about 25 places to check if anybody has added translations that need validation. I found translations more than one year old not validated. I tend to validate what is usefull for me, but likes to validate other stuff as well. But if it is bothersome to do, well, it will be done seldom or not at all.

3. Having 3 versions of Simple press and 4 themes doesnt improve things. As far as I have checked the files for admin, the files for frontend and the files for themes doesnt differ very much. So you might consider making a single catch all file(well an adminfile, a frontendfile and a themefile in the present setup).

Actually a single file for ALL would be preferable for the user (and validator).

That was my point of view :-) . You probably have other issues.

I am afraid it is a classic case of not being able to please all of the people all of the time! smile

There are really two reasons for them being split they way they are. The first is because the overwhelming majority of requests in this area preferred it split up as our users then only had to load the translation files needed. And the second reason is just that.... loading large volumes of unwanted translations takes up time and resources.

Sadly - the mechanisms used by WordPress and the 'gettext' translation system does not lend itself to being able to offer both at the same time.
